General Description
The Physical Sciences Center ( PSC ) Tutor/Lab Aide is a dual role position. Their duties include assisting students with their lecture and lab materials. Additionally, they will need to assist in the daily operations of the PSC and its associated labs, this includes providing support services to students, faculty and other PSC staff.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to constantly grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES : This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. This position requires the person to frequently move about the Chemistry/Physics Lab to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position. This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office/lab equipment to perform the essential functions of the position. This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position. This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level. This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment. This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with lab equipment or assist students. 3. VISUAL ACUITY : This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. 4. WORKING CONDITIONS This position’s essential functions are performed in an indoor, office or lab setting. This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to hazards such as but not limited to: close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, chemicals, oils, or infectious diseases, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases.

Work Hours
Flexible work schedule ranging from 10 – 25 hours per week, may include nights or weekends depending on PSC operational requirements. Hours are set each semester.
