Oklahoma City Community College seeks an STEP Engineering Lab Assistant/Tutor to support students with lecture and lab material during scheduled hours in the Engineering Lab. The role may also assist professors with class projects, equipment, and safety.

What position(s) reports to this position?
None
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Must have made a C or better in Engineering Physics I and Calc II.
Hands on work experience or direct interaction with the Engineering Professors required.
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and engineering lab area to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to faculty, staff and students to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to work on equipment in Engineering Lab area.
This position requires the person to occasionally use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull and/or lift materials or equipment.
This position frequently requires the person to operate and inspect Engineering Lab equipment, to instruct students on proper operation.
VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This positions essential functions are performed in an indoor, classroom and lab area.
This position requires the person to communicate above sufficient noise and exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to be able to frequently move in close proximity to Engineering Lab equipment located in the lab area.
This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to fumes, odors, dusts, and gases associated with an Engineering Lab area.

The STEP Engineering Lab Assistant/Tutor assists students with their lecture material, lab work and special projects during scheduled hours in the Engineering Lab.
Understand, obey, and enforce all safety and health regulations applicable in a engineering science laboratory. This may include, but not be limited to, State and Federal regulations concerning hazardous chemicals, infectious organisms, and blood borne pathogens.
Operate, maintain, adjust and explain the use of equipment used in the Engineering Lab.
Effectively interact and communicate with students, faculty and staff while performing duties.
Fulfill student and institutional needs by maintaining a flexible work schedule assigned by the Engineering Program Director.
Participate in required training.
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, be prepared to take action, and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
