Nucor Steel Kankakee, Inc. in Bourbonnais, IL is hiring a Physical Lab Technician to run the Roll Mill lab, ensuring products meet dimensional, surface, and mechanical specs. The role supports production by sampling and recording data, with in-house software familiarity and the ability to lift 50+ pounds as needed.

Two years in quality inspection and six months in a steelmaking environment are preferred, with comprehensive benefits including health, retirement, and profit-sharing opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2 years previous experience with quality inspection.
• 6 months previous experience in a steelmaking/heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Run the Roll Mill lab and ensure products conform to applicable requirements (dimensional, surface, and mechanical properties).
• Help production maintain proper bar requirements by gathering and measuring samples; assist Shipping in sample collection as needed.
• Familiar and assist either Roll Mill lab as needed.
• Accurately enter data relevant to testing software and mill product check records.
• Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials weighing 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
