Job summary

BelovED Community & Empowerment Academy Charter Schools seeks a Physical Education, Driver's Ed, and Health Teacher for our High School in Jersey City, starting as soon as possible. This role supports students through a dynamic program and a strong school culture.

Base salary ranges from $67,000 to $90,000 with competitive raises year to year and bonus opportunities. Work hours are 7:15am to 3:05pm, and the school emphasizes teamwork, professional development, and student-centered teaching.

• Driver's Ed certification a major plus.
• Sub Cert considered if PE Certification is in progress (under Sub Contract/Salary).

Physical Education and Health Teacher Description

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring a Physical Education, Driver's Ed, and Health Teacher for our High School for the current school year and beyond. We are looking for someone to begin as soon as possible.

Base Salary (if certified):

$67,000-$90,000

TEACHER SUPPORTS

Teachers at Empowerment Academy are part of a school-wide team. They receive career-long coaching and professional development support from school leaders; work with their peers in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan lessons and solve problems; and partner with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.

Examples of such teacher supports include:

• Abundant planning periods during the school day;
• A research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials;
• High-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, that help identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item; and
• Full-time reading and math specialists who tutor students struggling to master an essential skill, and counselors and social workers who help students struggling with non-academic problems

Requirements

• Candidates should either hold a New Jersey Department of Education CE, CEAS, Limited CE or Standard Certificate in Physical Education/Health. Driver's Ed is a major plus.
• We will consider candidates with a Sub Cert IF they are in the process of getting a PE Certification (but you will work under a Sub Contract/Salary).
