Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year physical education or related experience; ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work, and effectively attend to the needs and safety concerns of school age children; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Previous athletic or sports related experience preferred.
• Data Utilization involves compiling, recording and transcribing data per prescribed standards.
• Human Interaction requires guiding, assisting and interpreting procedures to others.
• Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization involves using physical education equipment.
• Verbal Aptitude requires use of reference data and information.
• Mathematical Aptitude covers basic arithmetic operations.
• Functional Reasoning covers following written or oral instructions; semi-routine work with some judgment.
• Situational Reasoning involves judgment and creativity in predefined duties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outdoor PE lessons for classes (min 20 students) using planned activities and games.
• Assist in setup and organization of equipment and playing fields for the day.
• Assist in lesson plan preparation and pre-planning sessions; support development of activities.
• Maintain class order and discipline; enforce school and class rules; refer to principal as needed.
• Evaluate student performance and provide input to the PE teacher.
• Design department bulletin boards and displays of student activities.
• Prepare instructional materials and perform related clerical tasks (copying, laminating, typing).
• Record daily attendance and track student data as required.
• Coordinate with media center staff for supplementary materials as needed.
• Assist with monitoring duties (hallways, car/bus duty) as assigned.
• Keep current with technology used by OCPS and participate in trainings.
• Ensure timely and accurate information is maintained.
