Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year PTA program leading to an associate degree.
• Current PTA licensure from the Ohio Board of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers or licensure applicant.
• Maintains the standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association regarding treatment procedures and ethics.
• Evidence of appropriate academic and clinical preparation for patient care.
• Knowledge of the laws and rules governing the practice of physical therapy.
• Ability to pass annual safety test.
• Obtains/maintains CPR certification prior to completion of probation.

Job Description:

Administers physical therapy treatments and related duties underthe working direction of, and as assistant to, the physicaltherapist.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:

• Successful completion of at least a 2-year college program forPhysical Therapy Assistants that leads to an associate’s degree andhas been approved by APT A.
• Current physical therapy assistant licensure from the Ohio Boardof Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers ora licensure applicant
• Maintains the standards set by the American Physical TherapyAssociation regarding treatment procedure and professionalethics
• Evidence of appropriate academic and clinical preparation forpatient care in Physical Therapy Services at Medical College ofOhio
• Knowledge of The Laws and Rules Governing the Practice ofPhysical Therapy.
• Ability to pass annual safety test.
• Obtains/maintains CPR Certification from the American HeartAssociation prior to the completion of probationary period.American Red Cross CPR Certification is acceptable for hire.
• Ability to achieve competencies for assigned work area ( i.e.,age specific, suctioning, CPR, etc.)

Communication and other skills:

• Good written and verbal communication skills to allow for patientcare, functioning as a team member, to assure adequatedocumentation for payors and to ensure continuity of care.
• Adheres to UTMC service values.

Physical Requirements:

• Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including colorvision when applicable;
• Ability to hear (with or without aides);
• Ability to orally communicate;
• Good manual dexterity;
• Ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 poundsoccasionally;
• Ability to stand, walk frequently;
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently;
• Ability to perform CPR (if a required for position).
