Job summary

Lendable Ltd is seeking a PHP Engineer to join our growing UK Loans team, based in or around London. You will work on APIs, lending platforms, and architectural discussions, with a strong ownership mindset.

The role requires 5+ years of PHP experience, PHP 8+, and familiarity with Symfony and modern tech. You’ll collaborate with a talented engineering group across backend and platform disciplines, contributing to fast-paced fintech product development.

Qualifications

• Proficient in PHP 8+ and Symfony.
• Owns their work with high autonomy.
• Strong understanding of Symfony.
• Experience with Domain Driven Design and message-driven systems is a plus.
• Strong testing skills (Behat, PHPUnit, unit/integration).

We're looking for a PHP Engineer to join our growing UK Loans team, either based in or around London

Our engineering organisation is home to over 200 talented engineers across backend, frontend, mobile, and platform disciplines.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on everything from building and integrating new APIs to enhance the customer journey, to optimising our lending platforms, and engaging in deep architectural discussions. There’s plenty to tackle, and we’re excited to find the right people to take on the challenge.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Essential

• 5+ years experience with PHP
• Strong, business oriented, engineer with modern PHP development experience (PHP 8.0+ is a must)
• High degree of ownership and autonomy
• A good understanding of Symfony
• Experience with Domain Driven Design, Message-Driven Systems and Event Sourcing would be a plus
• Strong automatic testing skills (unit, integration, functional, behat)

Desirable

• Experience working on financial systems
• A keen desire to want to learn and input into a highly collaborative team

OUR TECH STACK

• Backend: PHP 8, Symfony 7, AWS, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions and ArgoCD (we deploy to production as soon as a feature is complete!)
• Testing: Behat, PHPUnit
