Job summary

Lyte AI in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Photonics Validation Engineer to validate photonics subsystems and opto-electronic modules, building test infrastructure and driving failure analysis across components and modules.

You will design test benches, perform spectrum/FFT analyses, validate coherent communication systems, and collaborate with FPGA/ASIC teams. A Bachelor's in EE/Photonics is required with 3–7 years of hands-on testing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Applied Physics (Master's/PhD welcome)
• 3–7 years in photonics validation, optical testing, or opto-electronic systems
• Hands-on testing experience with photonic/opto-electronic components, subsystems, or packaged modules
• Experience building test benches, fixtures, or automated test setups from scratch
• Strong failure-analysis and troubleshooting across optical, electrical, and firmware domains
• Proficiency with lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power meters)
• Data analysis and visualization using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
• Knowledge of coherent optical communications and related principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication across engineering disciplines

Responsibilities

• Build test benches and automated setups for photonics systems and modules
• Design and execute validation plans across wafer, chip, eval board, and sub-modules
• Perform spectrum and FFT-based signal analysis
• Validate coherent communication systems and modules
• Lead failure analysis across optical, electrical, and firmware domains
• Conduct passive optical testing (insertion/return loss, wavelength response)
• Troubleshoot and resolve test issues and design challenges
• Analyze test data to characterize device performance and trends
• Collaborate with FPGA/ASIC teams for test automation and validation
• Document procedures, results, and failure analyses for stakeholders
• Support transition of test methodologies from R&D to high-volume manufacturing
