Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ seeks an engineer to design, build, and test photonics tools for scientific and industrial applications. You will develop experiments to qualify proof-of-concept technologies and create specifications for components and tests, collaborating with software and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting electronics and photonics systems, data entry in ERP, and supporting production.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Physics, Optics/Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related field with post-degree experience.
Alternative: BS with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
Experience designing and building integrated photonic systems or optical/electronic characterization tools.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and test photonics tools for scientific and industrial applications.
Design experiments to qualify proof-of-concept technologies.
Specify and perform testing to characterize catalog or system products.
Create specifications for components and test procedures for development and production.
Collaborate with software group to maximize functionality.
Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Marketing and Service.
Assist production team with problem solving.
