Job summary

Jobtailor in New Jersey is seeking a seasoned photonics education events coordinator to lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of learning sessions, both in-person and virtual. You will work with internal experts to ensure accurate content, manage hosts, dates, and logistics, and supervise demonstrations.

This role requires 5+ years in photonics labs and STEM education, a Bachelor’s degree (PhD preferred), and strong written/verbal English and Spanish.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Photonics-related field preferred
  • 5+ years photonics lab experience
  • 5+ years in STEM education or teaching
  • Strong ability to present complex concepts clearly

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the creation and delivery of photonics learning events
  • Track event requests, contact hosts, secure dates, confirm content, and ensure event delivery
  • Teach educational content in person and explain background, process, expected results, and answer questions
  • Present lab techniques and best practices, including pros and cons of alternatives
  • Collaborate with internal experts to ensure accurate, clear, and concise explanations
  • Support staff with setup, teardown, presentation, and maintenance of demonstrations
  • Create operating procedures and train support staff on demonstrations and quality standards
  • Curate and collect digital content with event staff and Marketing
  • Provide Marketing feedback from event participants and ensure sufficient event materials
  • Set up and break down equipment, furniture, and accessories for events
  • Establish relationships with universities and institutions, present offerings, optimize events, and collect feedback
  • Create, manage, and report event KPIs
  • Crosstrain with Content Specialists to update course materials and equipment and propose new demonstrations
  • Identify and execute strategies to expand educational platforms
  • Maintain knowledge of new products, presentations, lab activities, and published content to identify educational opportunities

Job description

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working in a photonics lab
  • 5+ years of experience educating STEM students
  • 5+ years of experience providing technical presentations
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's or Ph.D. in a Photonics-related field preferred
  • Clearly and effectively convey information and ideas to students using verbal, written, and visual communication
  • Ability to identify and address issues or obstacles that may hinder the learning process and find effective solutions
  • Ability to identify, trial, and incorporate updates to educational materials
  • Provide lectures, trainings, and demonstrations in person and virtually to large groups
  • Create, collect, analyze, and adapt KPIs to optimize learning outcomes
  • Execute, evaluate, and report on strategic approaches
  • Capacity to understand and relate to students' feelings, perspectives, and challenges
  • Awareness and respect for cultural and diverse backgrounds of students
  • Use available resources to establish new relationships and coordinate successful events
  • Efficient use of time during lessons
