Job summary

NY Creates in Albany seeks an experienced technologist to lead photonics development, combining silicon photonics, HI integration, and process/material optimization to deliver advanced optical components for multi-project wafer and dedicated wafer fabrication services.

The role requires frequent collaboration with customers and partners to define requirements, manage risks, and report progress, while maturing new technologies and contributing to patents and publications.

Qualifications

• M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or a Ph.D. with relevant experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and execute tasks on short notice.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multifaceted team; flexibility to learn new topics quickly.
• Background check may be required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for development activities within the organization.
• Coordinate with vendors (mask house, dicing/packaging, outsourced processes).
• Interacting with customers or development partners to understand requirements and report progress.
• Develop and mature new process technologies to meet external and internal roadmaps.
• Prepare reports, papers and patents as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
