Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks a curious student to assist the Photographer/Videographer in producing photo and video collateral. The on-site role in State College, PA offers hands-on experience through supporting shoots, editing, and client-focused projects.

The position runs up to 20 hours per week in fall/spring and 40 hours per week in summer, with mentoring and opportunities to grow in filmmaking, photography and marketing.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with the Adobe Suite, most importantly Premiere Pro and Lightroom/Photoshop
• Basic photography/videography skills
• Ability to express ideas successfully to drive understanding
• A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored
• Ability to follow direction and multi-task
• Willingness to be flexible and ask questions when navigating new and unfamiliar tasks
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Penn State University Park

Responsibilities

• Capture on-site photos and videos of ARL research and events at and around the University Park campus
• Help set up and take down audio, video, and lighting equipment in laboratory environments for promotional video shoots
• Organize and edit new and existing photography for a variety of use-cases
• Create drafts of videos for review
• Attend project kick-off meetings and brainstorm ways to approach new projects
