Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking a curious student to assist with photo and video collateral, while developing marketing and multimedia skills. You will support the ARL Photographer/Videographer to tell success stories through audiovisual means on-site in State College, PA.

The role offers hands-on experience in filmmaking, photography, and post-production, with flexible hours (up to 20 hours/week in fall/spring and 40 hours/week in summer) and mentorship

Qualifications

• Familiarity with the Adobe Suite, most importantly Premiere Pro and Lightroom/Photoshop.
• Basic photography/videography skills.
• Ability to express ideas successfully to drive understanding.
• A commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored.
• Ability to follow direction and multi-task.
• Willingness to be flexible and ask questions when navigating new and unfamiliar tasks.

Responsibilities

• Capture on-site photos and videos of ARL research and events at and around the University Park campus.
• Help set up and take down audio, video, and lighting equipment in laboratory environments for promotional video shoots.
• Organize and edit new and existing photography for a variety of use-cases.
• Create drafts of videos for review.
• Attend project kick-off meetings and brainstorm ways to approach new projects.
