Job summary

The Cut, part of Vox Media, in New York seeks a Photography Director to set and lead our visual strategy across digital, social, video, and print. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in visual production and a deep understanding of photography, art direction, and visual storytelling, with an enviable book of contacts across agencies, photographers, and creatives.

You will report to Lindsay Peoples, Editor-in-Chief of The Cut and work with editors to translate ideas

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in visual production, photo editing, or related field.
• Strong editorial judgment with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent visual taste and ability to mentor a photo team.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

• Set the visual strategy for The Cut across print, digital, social, and video.
• Provide clear visual direction and feedback to the photo team.
• Lead photo shoot production from concept to delivery, on budget.
• Maintain photo budgets and allocate project budgets to team members.
• Manage workflow, photo research, image selection, and CMS uploads.
