Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, engineering, computer science, information systems, cybersecurity or related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in privacy/data protection or equivalent graduate education.
• Experience with AWS and at least one scripting or development language (Python, Java, or JavaScript).
• Knowledge of Agile best practices.
• Experience implementing cybersecurity unit tests, performance, logging and monitoring.
• Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency with delivering and maintaining secure software.
• Knowledge of privacy engineering certifications such as IAPP CIPT is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construct and supply cybersecurity solutions protecting Southwest Airlines.
• Work in focused teams using Agile standards.
• Design, build, and maintain solutions in AWS on a modern platform.
• Anticipate integration opportunities and enhance platform capabilities.
• Provide guidance to operations and support teams to remediate security vulnerabilities, threats, and vulnerabilities.
• Deliver training for users on core cybersecurity tools and automated environments.
• Identify cybersecurity issues, develop responses, recommend software and architectures, and coordinate development in an orderly manner to meet business needs.
• Oversee incident response and remediation of production incidents.
• Partner with development testers to discover defects and conduct testing.
• Test and enforce software changes using techniques that preserve machine integrity.
• Assist in maintaining systems, control escalation issues and day‑to‑day operations.
• Triage incidents and perform root‑cause analysis, transition features to production.
• Maintain installed solutions and standards to ensure high quality and effective performance.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and cross‑functional teams to achieve objectives.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisory leadership.
