Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer in Mississippi to design and operate secure software delivery using AWS. You will apply Agile practices to build and maintain secure systems, collaborate across teams to address vulnerabilities, and provide security training for customers.

You will conduct real‑time incident response, support QA in defect remediation, and deploy security tooling to safeguard platform integrity.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Agile development practices.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Experience with a major cloud platform, preferably AWS.
• Ability to perform vulnerability assessment and penetration testing for systems.
• Experience with security monitoring, logging, and incident response tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for delivering presentations and negotiating solutions.
• 3–5 years of experience in security, privacy, or related fields.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Construct and deliver cybersecurity solutions that defend Southwest Airlines, using AWS and a common platform.
• Apply Agile practices to produce and maintain secure software.
• Collaborate with application and integration teams to remediate vulnerability, defect, and coverage issues.
• Provide training to customers on security practices and automated environments.
• Conduct real‑time incident response and problem resolution for production applications.
• Work with QA teams to identify defects and validate fixes.
• Deploy and maintain security tooling, ensuring platform integrity and system reliability.
• Support run‑book and escalation processes for security incidents.
• Triage and research potential defects; manage maintenance and feature transition tasks.
• Maintain and document processes and requirements for high quality delivery.
• Participate in cross‑functional discussions to align security solutions with business needs.
• Perform other duties as directed by leadership.
