Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
• Responsible for correct blood collection, drawing blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensuring proper identification and labeling of specimens.
• Organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing; ensure all specimens are properly processed and stored.
• Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test results.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is in working order and properly sanitized.
• Perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
