Job summary

Prime Healthcare Services seeks a detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. This PRN/Per Diem position involves blood draws, specimen labeling, and ensuring sample quality for lab testing, with opportunities to handle more complex procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 45 days of hire and kept current.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Collect blood via venipuncture or capillary puncture with proper identification and labeling.
• Transport specimens to the lab and ensure proper processing and storage.
• Adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain specimen integrity and accurate results.
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
• Perform more complex phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision.
