Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking a Hospital Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. You will collect blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture and perform routine collections with accuracy and compliance; maintain equipment and cleanliness; and support specimen handling and lab computer systems.

The role requires high school diploma, Louisiana license as Laboratory Assistant, and phlebotomy certification; experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as hospital phlebotomist or completion of phlebotomy school.
• Louisiana State License as a Laboratory Assistant.
• National Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture or skin puncture.
• Perform specimen collections requiring state licensure.
• Perform specialized collection procedures (crossmatch, glucose tolerance, urine drug screen).
• Keep blood drawing trays and equipment clean and organized.
• Ensure specimen collection accuracy and integrity.
• Utilize laboratory computer system, collection lists, and pending logs.
