Responsibilities

• Identifies patients using two identifiers and collects specimens by venipuncture, heelstick, or fingerstick per established protocol.
• Orders and processes laboratory requests to ensure timely and accurate collection and reporting.
• Adheres to HIPAA standards when handling protected health information.
• Collects and processes paperwork for billing and reporting by courier, fax, or laboratory printer.
• Maintains cleanliness and restocks supplies, assisting co-workers as needed.
• Performs daily/weekly/monthly safety and maintenance logs.
• Trains CPT/MLS students and assists in CPT training.
• Performs downtime procedures for Laboratory and Emergency Department.
