Job summary

Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Tech to perform venipunctures and specimen processing in a part-time evening role. You will collect, accession, and prepare specimens for testing while ensuring patient safety and specimen integrity.

The role includes mentoring, patient interaction, and collaboration with in-house labs across Geisinger’s network. Benefits begin day one with opportunities for growth and ongoing competency development.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy and specimen collection skills required.
• ASCP certification or eligible preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to handle specimens safely and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures per CLSI guidelines.
• Process and accession specimens for testing; ensure correct labeling.
• Safely handle potentially infectious materials per regulatory standards.
• Maintain logs, quality control, and instrument maintenance as assigned.
• Mentor students/new employees as needed.
• Provide phlebotomy coverage for multiple sites and in-home draws if required.
