Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a phlebotomy professional to perform all collection procedures and ensure adherence to policies and procedures. The role includes assisting in orientation and training of staff on equipment and software as needed, with emphasis on accuracy and patient care.

A valid phlebotomy certification and completion of an accredited program are required, with ongoing development in medical terminology and quality assurance to support laboratory operations.

What We Offer

Team member is responsible for performing all collection procedures. Team member is responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software, as necessary.

What We're Looking For

• Education:
  • High School or GED, required.
• Experience:
  • One year of relevant phlebotomy experience, preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Phlebotomy Certification – ASCP, NHA, ASPT, AMT or a national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership (Phlebotomy/Medical Laboratory Assistant certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.) , required.
• Additional Skills (required):
  • Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.
