Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist Tech II to perform routine blood collection across all age groups, including neonates and infants. The role also includes specimen processing, receiving duties, and accurate patient/specimen registration.

Candidates must have at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience and hold an active national phlebotomy certification. This float position requires flexibility to cover absences across locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year phlebotomy experience with all age groups.
• Phlebotomy certification with a national agency, current and active.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood collection on all age groups, including neonates and infants.
• Demonstrate competency in specimen processing and the receiving area.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care in assigned area.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing all duties of Phlebotomist Tech II including routine blood collection on all age group including neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in specimen processing and receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in assigned area. Demonstrates competency in registration of patients and specimens.

Required Qualifications

• - Require a minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience with all age groups.
• - Require Phlebotomy certification with a national agency. Must be kept current and active.

Preferred Qualifications

• - Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers.
• - Prefer demonstrated ability to handle customer service questions and effective communication skills.
• - Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.

Mandatory Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

Preferred License and Certs

FDL: Valid Driver's License

Float position - must be flexible to cover leave of absences at several locations.
