Job summary

Qualifications

• One year phlebotomy experience in an acute care medical center or equivalent.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy Technician II Certificate (California) OR Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate (California)
• On-call position; days and hours may vary.
• Demonstrated ability to perform duties at fully satisfactory level.
• Note: SCPMG Regional Reference Lab does not require phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, finger stick or heel stick as required on patients of all ages.
• Label samples and transport to laboratory or CL.S. as required.
• Perform pre-analytical steps: bar coding, centrifuging, logging, culturing and staining of specimens.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and reagents.
• Establish and maintain courteous relations with patients and staff.
• Follow directives from supervisors and seniors.
• Assume other duties as directed.
