Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required (ARC or AHA).
• New graduates may be considered at the director's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Identifies patients and labels specimens accurately per guidelines.
• Assesses patient suitability for venipuncture across all ages.
• Collects blood samples competently from neonates to geriatrics.
• Maintains sterile technique and proper tube types for tests.
• Performs clerical tasks and communicates patient data to providers.
• Operates the laboratory information system to enter and retrieve data.
• Participates in education and safety meetings and ongoing training.
