Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collection across all age groups, including neonates and infants, under supervision of the Laboratory Managers. You will also contribute to specimen processing and receiving, ensuring patient care adapted to age and needs within the Preanalytical Laboratory Services.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist responsibilities including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients’ in assigned area.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Mandatory Education

HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate

Preferred License and Certs

FDL: Valid Driver's License
