Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• 1 year recent phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Ability to perform venipuncture without assistance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Proficient reading and writing in English.
• Capable of transporting specimens promptly without compromising integrity.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients and label specimens correctly at collection.
• Participate in specimen processing, distribution and accessioning.
• Process and accession incoming lab specimens.
• Confirm patient and specimen IDs are documented correctly.
• Serve as primary liaison to physicians, nursing units and offices.
• Provide test status information and clarify physician orders.
• Generate reports and assist charting to patient care units.
• Support reporting and reception duties for the department.
