Obtains blood specimens from patients and delivers specimens to the laboratory or through the transport system. Correctly identifies patients and specimens.
Education
High School diploma or GED required. MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g., ASCP or AMT) preferred. An Associate's Degree with at least 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry is preferred.
Experience
Previous work experience is strongly preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing tasks quickly. Maintain absolute confidentiality with patient information. Demonstrate integrity and accuracy in patient identification. Must complete HeartSaver CPR certification by the end of the orientation period.
