Job description

Overview

Provides technical support to the lab by receiving and processing requisitions and specimens, and ordering specified lab tests according to standard operating procedures. Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into the computer.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Education: Associate's Degree with at least 6 semester hours in chemistry and 6 semester hours in biology.

License, Certification, and/or Registration: MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g., ASCP or AMT) preferred.

Experience: Previous work experience strongly preferred. Keyboarding skills, 40 wpm, preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly. Must maintain confidentiality of patient information, work effectively under stress, and function well in a team. Flexibility regarding shift end times may be required.
