Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Strongsville Family Health and Surgery Center is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join the Medical Laboratory Team. You will perform blood collections, ensure proper labeling, and help deliver specimens to the processing area while focusing on patient comfort.

This role supports patient care with weekend rotations (Sat 8:00am–12:00pm) and a 9:00am–6:00pm schedule, with access to ongoing educational resources and professional development offered by Cleveland Clinic.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment
  • Formal Phlebotomy Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship
  • One year of Phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
  • Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
  • Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
  • Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
  • Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.

As Phlebotomy Technician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. Using your experience and skills, you can help put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. A caregiver in this position works 9:00am--6:00pm. Weekend rotation (Saturdays 8:00am--12:00pm).


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship

  • One year of Phlebotomy experience


Physical Requirements:


  • Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.

  • Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.


Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $17.95


Maximum hourly: $25.50
