Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Beachwood Family Health and Surgery Center is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist Technician to join our Medical Laboratory Team. You will perform blood collection, prepare specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and transport to the processing area, supporting compassionate patient care on the east side.

Flexibility to float to other locations as needed, with shifts including early mornings (6:00am–5:00pm) or partial days (8:00am–12:00pm).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical proficiency with standard procedures and practices.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood collection procedures and venipuncture.
  • Verify order requests and identify patient information before drawing blood.
  • Label specimens and deliver to processing area.
  • Process specimens and perform tasks such as accessioning, centrifugation, packaging.
  • Pickup and deliver blood and lab supplies.

As a Phlebotomist Technician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. Using your experience and skills, you can help put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. Due to this being a PRN role, you may float to other locations for coverage. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days| 6:00am—5:00pm or 8:00am—12:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
  • Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
  • Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
  • Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
  • Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Formal Phlebotomy Certification
  • Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
  • Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $20.80

Maximum hourly: $20.80
