UHC United Hospital Center in Elkins, WV is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood and specimen collection, including urine, sputum, and throat swabs, while maintaining chain of custody.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with minimal patient discomfort for neonates to geriatrics.
  • Properly labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, computer systems, labeling printers, scanners, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
  • If applicable, collect drug screens using Chain of Custody Process.

Responsible for blood and blood culture collection; non-blood specimen collection including urine, sputum, semen samples, throat swabs; chain of custody specimen collection. Perform venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently.
