Job summary

Wheeling Hospital, Inc. in Wheeling, West Virginia is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the Clinical Labs team.

The role collects blood and blood cultures, as well as non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, semen, and throat swabs, and ensures proper chain of custody. Responsibilities include accurate specimen labeling, venipuncture and skin puncture, operation of basic lab equipment, and supportive clerical tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months phlebotomy experience.
  • Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with minimal patient discomfort for all age groups.
  • Properly labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, printers, scanners, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
  • If applicable, collect drug screens using Chain of Custody Process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, clients, and staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
  • If applicable, collect drug screens (internal and external) using Chain of Custody Process.
