Job summary

Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI seeks a phlebotomist to perform all phlebotomy procedures and support registration, specimen processing, and order entry. You will ensure accuracy of patient/testing information and provide laboratory results to providers.

Responsibilities include collecting blood samples across age groups, entering data, coordinating tests, and maintaining specimen integrity while supporting lab operations and training new staff as needed.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required.
• All employees hired during or after 2012 must have Phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood samples by performing venipunctures, finger sticks and heel sticks on any age level, using aseptic techniques.
• Enter all patient information into the hospital system, verify demographics and insurance, and administer ABNs as needed.
• Organize workload to ensure timely results to the provider and manage routine, time-specific or stat orders.
• Order tests in computer and coordinate with physicians on test requests when needed.
• File/Scan scripts and insurance information and prepare reports for delivery to Doctor's offices.
• Prepare samples for courier pickup or delivery to the appropriate department to maintain specimen integrity.
