Job Overview
Phlebotomy Supervisor – Merced, CA, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Pay range: $82,600–$116,800 per year. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus compensation.
This position requires you to have a state phlebotomy license. (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV).

Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily operations of all assigned facilities, PSCs, mobile and in‑office phlebotomy.
- Implement SOPs for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
- Ensure all federal, state, and local licensure requirements are met, working with the QA and Medical Director's offices.
- Ensure all laboratory testing QA/QC documentation is complete and reviewed as required.
- Oversee safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities (including upgrades, repairs, etc.).
- Perform site visits at all assigned PSCs/IOPs and mobile phlebotomy sites and document findings. Perform QA audits.
- Relocate/open/close PSCs, IOPs and RRLs.
- Oversee inventory process for supervised facilities.
- Participate in the interview, selection, and hiring of new employees.
- Train, coach, supervise, and develop staff.
- Monitor ongoing performance of employees; provide corrective action and counseling as required. Perform mid‑year and annual performance appraisals.
- Hold regularly scheduled meetings for dissemination of information to staff.
- Ensure all employees meet requirements for driving on company business.
- Track/enter time/attendance of employees.
- Prepare schedules with minimal overtime for employees. Maintain adequate coverage for all facilities.
- Prepare month‑end reports.
- May perform training and onboarding of new clients.
- Investigate, resolve, and respond to customer complaints appropriately and effectively.
- Ensure Quest improvement and/or standardization initiatives are implemented.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget for areas of responsibility. Maintain budget control throughout the year in areas of responsibility.
- Participate to assure fiscal responsibilities of the department are met (cost containment, overtime management, standardization initiatives, needs assessment for capital expenditures).
- Participate on process improvement teams or other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Organize and lead projects both within the workgroup and with cross‑functional groups. May be required to give presentations and speak in groups.

- Perform all other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience.
- Minimum five years’ experience in phlebotomy, laboratory or other healthcare environments.
Preferred Work Experience
- Customer service in a retail or service environment.

- Proficient PC skills including experience using MS Office applications.
- Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise consistent, independent, sound judgment.
- Must be able to manage individuals in multiple geographies/locations.
- Position requires travel.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare or related field (Preferred).
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
Languages
Licenses and Certifications
- Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states, e.g. California, Nevada, Washington and Louisiana) (Preferred).
