Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures and support point-of-care testing within the UNC Medical Center laboratories in Chapel Hill. You will work to ensure accurate specimen collection, quality control, and timely reporting of results in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires basic phlebotomy experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with clinical teams.

Qualifications

• One year of phlebotomy experience required, or graduation from a phlebotomy program.
• No licensure or certification required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.
