Job summary

AdventHealth Littleton is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venous and capillary specimen collection and related duties in a daytime, full-time role in Colorado. You will ensure specimen quality, handle inquiries, and participate in training and safety protocols.

The position requires a phlebotomy program completion, high school diploma or equivalent, and phlebotomy experience; pay range is posted with benefits from day one, including 403-B retirement and parental leave.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad or Equivalent is required.
  • Technical/Vocational School is preferred.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy program is expected.
  • Phlebotomy work experience is requested.
  • NHA CPT / NPCE CPT / ASPT CPT certifications preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection.
  • Ensures quality collection of specimens including container, volume, priority, and identification.
  • Resolves unusual test orders with care provider, reference lab, pathology, or lab leadership as needed.
  • Receives specimens, assesses priority, ensures proper identification, processes hospital and outreach patients.
  • Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to testing areas; loads samples onto analyzers.
  • Prepares samples for off-site testing; selects container/type/temperature and completes paperwork.
  • Packages samples for courier transport to off-site locations.
  • Participates in new associate and student training and orientation.
  • Maintains shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of operations and patient care.
  • Handles customer inquiries and complaints about laboratory results and test requirements.
  • Maintains inter- and intra-department communication and cooperation.
  • Performs waived and moderate complexity testing under supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:
  • Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection.

  • Ensures quality collection of specimens including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority, and sample identification.

  • Resolves unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, or referring to lab leadership when appropriate.

  • Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and type, and processes hospital-registered and outreach patients.

  • Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
