AdventHealth in Littleton, CO is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venous, capillary, and other specimen collections, ensuring quality, proper identification, and timely processing for hospital and outreach patients. Responsibilities include handling specimens, preparing samples for testing, and participating in training and shift communications.
The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a phlebotomy program, and preferred CPT certifications with BLS.

Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection.
Ensures quality collection of specimens including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority, and sample identification.
Resolves unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, or referring to lab leadership when appropriate.
Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and type, and processes hospital-registered and outreach patients.
Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
Prepares samples for off-site testing, including assessing appropriate sample type, container, and temperature, and completes related paperwork and documentation.
Packages samples for courier transport to off-site testing locations.
Participates in new associate and student training and orientation.
Actively participates in shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.
Handles and resolves customer inquiries and complaints regarding laboratory results, test requirements, and other laboratory information.
Maintains inter- and intra-department relations through appropriate communication, teamwork, and cooperation.
Performs waived and moderate complexity testing as defined by guidelines under the supervision of laboratory management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
