Job Description:
- Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
- PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
- The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.
- Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information, including initials and signature post-venipuncture, to ensure tubes are labeled correctly in the patient's presence.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, health & safety, and guiding principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Capability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Superior customer focus, open and transparent communication, adaptability, and knowledge of our business.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience:
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
Additional Job Details:
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite. Public transportation is not considered reliable.
- Availability to work scheduled shifts, punctuality, and commitment to entire shifts are mandatory.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may lead to termination.
