Job Description

The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, either as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The Phlebotomist III- Float draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.

They have direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately. The Phlebotomist III- Float provides coverage at multiple locations and roles, ensuring daily activities in the Patient Service Center, Mobile, Long Term Care, or In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.

This role demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Successful candidates may work in doctors' offices, patient service centers, house call environments, long-term care, or as dictated by business needs. They should be capable of stepping in for other Phlebotomist IIIs, leading onsite staff, and mentoring new employees, including onboarding new clients.

The position may involve working with high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring exceptional phlebotomy skills and strong customer-facing communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with various functions such as Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.

The candidate must handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Required Education

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
3. Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

1. Five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
2. Minimum 3 years in a Patient Service Center/In-Office Phlebotomy environment preferred.
3. Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
4. Keyboard/data entry experience.
