Job summary

HJ Staffing is currently seeking one (1) dedicated Lab Technician / Qualified Phlebotomist to support the Laboratory Department at Austin State Hospital.

In this role, you will perform blood draws and laboratory support duties for inpatients, in a psychiatric/specialized care setting. Location: Austin State Hospital, Austin, TX. Schedule: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Full-Time / Contract (3–6 months) with possible extension.

Qualifications

• One year of phlebotomy/blood-drawing experience preferred.
• Active state/national phlebotomy or lab technician certifications required.
• Strong communication skills in a mental health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and standard laboratory technician duties.
• Work compassionately with individuals with mental illness and related conditions.
• Adhere to rules and policies of HHSC, Austin State Hospital, and HJ Staffing.
• Complete daily reporting, documentation, and administrative duties.
