Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a phlebotomist to support laboratory operations by collecting specimens from inpatients and outpatients and ensuring accurate ordering, cancellation, and charging for tests. The position requires formal phlebotomy training or a two-year science/health-related degree, and relevant clinical experience. Color vision screening is required, and schedule is every other weekend.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) or post-secondary education.
• Clinical training in an approved phlebotomy training program, OR a two-year degree in science/health-related field.
• Two years' experience in specimen collections, processing and requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or health care delivery system, OR clinical training in a Northside Hospital Lab.
• Phlebotomy Certification (valid, verifiable).
• Color acuity screening test required.

Responsibilities

• Handle laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure proper ordering, cancellation, and charging of requests for inpatients, outpatients, and institutional accounts.
• Perform specimen collection procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
• Perform non-technical specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens from patients.
