Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Phlebotomist for the Reference Lab. The role performs all phlebotomy specimen collection at in-house or off-site locations and may prepare and stain cytology specimens as directed.

Responsibilities include entering patient registration and test orders into HIS/LIS, ensuring ABN compliance, and maintaining safe, clean work areas in accordance with infection-control policies. Evening/weekend coverage is possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy certification.
• Preferred: experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training.
• Preferred: experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs all specimen collection by phlebotomy from the correct individual at in-house or off-site locations.
• Obtains other specimens when indicated and instructs patients in collection procedures as necessary.
• Enters pathology specimens into computerized information systems and prepares/stains cytology specimens as required.
• Works under the direction of supervisors and trained personnel in all laboratory areas.
