Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Phlebotomist - Laboratory Support Service Tech (LSST) to collect and process specimens in clinic and hospital laboratories, handle blood and body fluids, and prepare containers with reagents. The LSST will interact with patients, families, physicians, and staff while supporting quality control daily.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a 2-year degree preferred, and certification in phlebotomy or completion of a phlebotomy program

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Two-year degree preferred.
• One of: National Certification in Phlebotomy or phlebotomy program with clinical rotation.
• Medical Assistant certification considered for eligibility.
• Ability to read labels and follow SOPs with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, processing, and waived point-of-care testing as part of the LSST role.
• Receive and verify blood and body fluid specimens; prepare containers with reagents.
• Communicate with patients and staff; use information systems daily.
• Assist with training new employees and students; contribute to quality control.
