Job summary

This role requires a high school diploma or GED with preferred two-year degree and relevant phlebotomy or patient-care experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year degree preferred.
• One of the following: venous access and specimen processing experience OR National Certification in Phlebotomy OR phlebotomy program with clinical rotation required.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant considered.

Responsibilities

• The LSST performs a wide range of services in clinic and hospital laboratories, including specimen collection, specimen processing, waived point-of-care testing, and other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for blood and body fluid specimen receipt, identification verification, processing, shipping and storage.
• Facilitate collection and processing of large volumes of specimens for multiple testing sites and prepare lab specimens with required reagents.
• Interact with patients, families, physicians and staff; use critical thinking to troubleshoot and prioritize workload and ensure procedures are followed.
