Job summary

Wellstar Health System, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. The role supports patient care teams and ensures accurate specimen handling and timely communication.

Responsibilities include LIS/HIS data entry, specimen triage, QA checks, and collaboration across departments to maintain quality and safety standards. A high school diploma and national phlebotomy certification are required; experience in hospital

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Phlebotomy Certification from a national organization required at hire.
• Prefer experience in outpatient or hospital laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Check specimens for quality and quantity upon arrival.
• Cancel unacceptable specimens after notifying RN and documenting in LIS.
• Centrifuge, decant or split specimens; transport to testing areas as needed.
• Measure and aliquot 24 hr urine samples and enter LIS data.
• Prepare specimens for transport to reference labs and manage pending logs.
• Perform phlebotomy with proper patient identification and safety protocols.
• Deliver specimens within specified timeframes and resolve discrepancies.
