Job summary

San Benito Health Care District in Hollister, CA is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join the Laboratory Support Services team. You will collect blood specimens, label and process samples, and support clerical tasks related to patient records and the hospital information system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 6 months experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens from patients of all ages by venipuncture, finger stick, and/or heel stick.
• Follows patient safety goals including two identifiers, hand hygiene, and professional communication.
• Greets patients with courtesy and empathy; maintains two-way communication with the healthcare team.
• Ensures proper order of draw and labels specimens correctly for test processing.
• Maintains specimen logging, processing, and distribution to appropriate laboratory departments.
