Job summary

Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist Clerical Support (FT, 4x10) to obtain blood specimens from patients across all age groups and support clerical duties in the Phlebotomy department.

The role requires familiarity with LIS/HIS systems, careful specimen handling, and adherence to safety protocols. A high school diploma is preferred, with national phlebotomy certification or pending recertification as a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency (e.g., ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Positively identify patient before obtaining specimens for testing.
• Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages using appropriate tubes and handling.
• Label specimens accurately and collect urine drug screens as required.
• Operates Lab Information System to manage orders, batches, labels and results.
• Assist technologists and monitor phlebotomy training.
