Job summary

You will greet patients, provide clear collection instructions, ensure safety, enter results into computer systems, and assist with equipment maintenance. Requires phlebotomy training with externship or equivalent experience and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Six months phlebotomy experience within three years.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program and 80‑hour externship.
• Alternative: two years of phlebotomy experience after program.
• Medical Assistant program with phlebotomy training and six months phlebotomy in past three years.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and communicates collection instructions.
• Performs specimen collection and labeling per procedures.
• Proficient with computer systems and required software.
• Completes laboratory orientation and on-going education.
• Processes specimens and prepares transport as required.
• Assesses specimen integrity and loads instruments.
• Maintains equipment startup/shutdown and routine inquiries.
• Delivers excellent customer service and safety compliance.
• Documents results and alerts to clinical staff.
