Job summary

Ochsner Health in Lafayette, LA is seeking a laboratory assistant/phlebotomy technician to support specimen collection, processing and basic testing in a fast-paced clinical lab. You will work with the LIS and maintain quality controls while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

A High School diploma and phlebotomy training are preferred; Louisiana licensure must be obtained within 180 days of hire. This is a full-time, on-site hospital role in Lafayette.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
• Current Louisiana Laboratory Assistant license required within 180 days of hire; trainee license allowed for first 180 days.
• Louisiana License as a Laboratory Assistant must be acquired within 180 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection.
• Processes orders.
• Performs patient testing and specimen set up.
• Performs and documents quality control; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Orders, inventories and stocks supplies.
• Maintains professional communication with patients and staff.
• Other related duties as required.
